ITEM 5.02.    Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
On November 20, 2019, the Board of Trustees (the "Board") of National Storage Affiliates, Inc. (the "Company") increased the size of the Board from nine trustees to ten trustees and elected Ms. Tamara D. Fischer, the Company's current president, chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary, to serve as a member of the Board, effective January 1, 2020. As previously announced, Ms. Fischer will also be promoted to chief executive officer and will resign from her positions of chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary, effective January 1, 2020. The Company does not expect Ms. Fischer to serve on any committees of the Board.

There is no arrangement or understanding between Ms. Fischer and any other persons pursuant to which Ms. Fischer was appointed to serve on the Board. There are no related party transactions between the Company and Ms. Fischer that would require disclosure under Item 404(a) of Regulation S-K. Ms. Fischer will not be paid additional fees for serving on the Board.
